Evangelism & Outreach Committee
Our Mission Statement:
To promote the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ both locally and throughout the world by providing responsible financial support and encouragement to those directly involved in ministry and outreach projects, and, to share our involvement with the entire ODPC Congregation that makes our outreach mission possible.
The Process:
Every mission supported by our local church is thoroughly vetted by one or more of the committee members. Nearly every member has done mission work abroad and has a personal contact and relationship with missionary efforts in Cuba, Haiti, India, Egypt, Costa Rica, Turkey, and Nepal.
Missions abroad and here in the States:
Through these efforts we are reaching people who are starving, have no fresh drinking water, and have not been exposed to the gospel of Jesus Christ. We network with other churches and provide support to schools, drill wells, and support the evolution of home churches in areas that have been unreachable in the past. We have found that Christianity is actually spreading at a rapid pace in many of these foreign countries! Even those that have very different political leadership. We are also well involved in our National Missions which consists of a Prison Ministry and Religious Publications.
Local missions and outreach:
We support many local ministries and missions that feed the hungry, council and support children and others in need, support youth activities, and we are able to become personally involved in these local ministries, as well as providing financial support. Most of these ministries are well known by the congregation and receive support well beyond the E&O Committee.
By the numbers:
All of our ministries are either budgeted, or, self-funded either by their own initiative or by special offerings. The budget breakdown in about 50% International, 10% National and 40% local. There is also a line item that is unspecified and is available for critical needs as they occur throughout the year. It is a responsibility of the E&O committee to see to it that any mission that receives support from ODPC has a spiritual component as well as just providing aid where needed.
