Sherri King Vestal was born and raised a Georgia girl. She has been involved in church and gospel music her entire life, traveling with her family gospel group from age 11 to 22, when she moved to North Carolina in 1982 to join an evangelistic team as the pianist and vocalist. She met her husband, Mark, there, and they were married in November, 1984. They moved to Greensboro, NC in 1986, where they lived for about 35 years. She was the office manager for a church there for 18 years until January, 2021 when they moved to Calabash to be near their children and grandchildren. Mark and Sherri have 2 children. Their son, Ben, who, with his wife, Kristdel, live in Ocean Isle Beach with their 5-year-old little boy, Bodhi, and 2-year-old daughter, Valor Grace. Their other son, Tyler, and his wife, Gerica, live in Nashville, TN with their 5-year-old little boy, Davis Lane, 2-year-old daughter, Ruby Ann, and 1-year-old baby boy, Charlie.
Sherri traveled and sang professionally with a female trio, Rejoice!, for about 20 years until they retired the group in 2014. She was the worship leader for her church in Greensboro for the past 10 years until moving here in 2021. “God sovereignly led us to ODPC a couple of months later and we have been so very blessed to become a part of this beautiful church family.”
Sherri is the pianist and a vocalist for the 9:15 Contemporary Service here at ODPC. She is also a member of the ODPC Chancel Choir. And in November, 2023, she joined the staff here as the Assistant Care and Concerns Coordinator.
